What is Techfestival?

On September 5-9 Techfestival is taking over Copenhagen’s vibrant Meatpacking District. We are creating the space to have a much-needed conversation on future progressive leadership in tech, searching for human answers to how technology should affect the way we learn, play, create, work, do our business, build our cities and develop democracies.

With 200+ community summits, meetups, open-air talks, art installations, film screenings, late night chats, after parties & other social events, there should be something for everyone and a lot of opportunities to connect with other curious minds in the international tech-community.

Who is Techfestival for?

Techfestival is open to people of all ages and backgrounds. It’s an open invitation to anyone who wants to explore, debate and celebrate a human-centric approach to technology with wide open eyes, fierce curiosity and joyful enthusiasm.

How can I join?

What can I access with my Techfestival wristband?

The Techfestival wristband gives you access to:

– The full exciting program for Techfestival and all 200 activities. The program includes 30 daylong summits, 80 short & sharp meetups, 50 talks, music, food, exhibitions, film screenings, afterparties and much more. See the full program here.

What’s happening at the Techfestival main area in the Meatpacking District?

A lot!

Copenhagen’s Meatpacking District is located in Vesterbro and is filled with bars, restaurants, clubs and art spaces. Techfestival will take over the entire area and fill it with stages, talks, exhibitions, DJs, food, lounge areas and after parties. Check out the full program here.

How do I get to and from the venues?

All meetups, summits, events and activities take place in and around the Meatpacking District in Vesterbro. It is located five minutes from the Central Station (Hovedbanegården) and you will find everything within walking distance. Check out our map here.

Where is the main stage located?

Techfestival’s main stage is located in the centre of the Meatpacking District in Copenhagen. Here you can enjoy talks, music, films and exhibitions. Find it on our map here.

Can I volunteer at Techfestival?

Of course! Join the Techfestival crew and become part of the festival by filling out the volunteer form. We promise you won’t regret it!

How do I get around?

All the meetups, summits and events are within walking distance. If you’d like to explore Copenhagen further we recommend you to rent a bike in the closest bike shop or use a Copenhagen City Bike service. Check out our map here.

Will there be food & drinks?

There will be a variety of food and drinks options within the festival area. Techfestival is located in the Meatpacking district which is also full of great restaurants and bars. With your wristband you get a good discount in many of the restaurants and cafés. Find them all in our customized Google Maps.

Where can I stay?

Different options are available for your stay in Copenhagen during Techfestival. You can either go with a hotel or try Human Hotel, which will provide you with a private host and they can also match you with the right events at the festival.

Human Hotel has provided us with a great deal for Techfestival guests, which means you can book with 50% off booking community fee.

There are many hotels in the area. A google search will provide you with even more hotel options.

If you are more in to Airbnb flats, we recommend to find one in the areas Vesterbro, København K or Frederiksberg as these are the areas closest to the Meatpacking district where the festival takes place.

Is there wheelchair access?

There is wheelchair access to the festival main area and a specially designed toilet. For the venues it varies, please check with the specific venue that you are planning to visit or contact us.

Toilets are located at the festival main area.

Where can I find a power station to charge my laptop/phone?

There are many cafes all over the Meatpacking where you can charge your laptop or phone.


How much is a ticket?

You can purchase your ticket to the festival for 200 DKK / 26 EUR / 31 USD + booking fee. The ticket gives you a wristband with access to all events: Summits, meetups, talks, afterparties etc.

What do I need to bring to get my wristband?

Please have your Eventbrite ticket ready on your mobile phone or as a printed ticket.

Where do I get my Techfestival wristband?

You can pick up your Techfestival wristband at our info booth in the main area in the Meatpacking district. We’re open:

What is included in the ticket?

With the ticket, you get access to all Techfestival’s Meetups, events, activities and parties. Summits are by application only, but we welcome anyone to apply for a spot.

Do you have any student discounts?

Unfortunately, we are not able to give students a discount. Techfestival is a non-profit organization and we have kept the price as low as possible in order to make it as inclusive as possible.  The ticket is yours for 200 DKK/ 26 EUR/ 31 USD.

If you have a couple of extra hours before or during the festival you can also become part of the Techfestival Crew, which gets you free access. Please sign up here to be a volunteer.


What’s a meetup?

Meetups are Techfestival’s co-created events hosted and curated by organizers from diverse tech communities around the world – open to all curious minds! The Meetups are for everyone, but capacities are limited so please RSVP to register, and arrive in good time to secure your spot. All Meetups are centred around one of our 10 technology tracks: Ego, Food, Play, Learn, Create, Work, Start, Energy Cities and Democracy.

Meetups are open to everyone with a festival wristband, but the spots are limited so please make sure to RSVP and turn up on time! Find the program here.

What’s a summit?

Summits are day-long participatory gatherings around a specific topic. They are designed by international experts who will facilitate the day and do their best to make sure all participants leave with new insights and a meaningful experience. The summits take place during the festival’s weekdays from 9:00-17:00.

Summits are by application only and with limited spots. To apply, find your summit in the program and fill out the Summit application form.

Who can attend a summit?

We welcome anyone to apply but will screen our participants to secure a meaningful experience and a diverse group. In order to apply, please fill out our summit application form.

How do I apply for attending a summit?

You apply to a summit by filling out the summit application form and writing a short motivation. We welcome anyone to apply but will screen our participants to secure a meaningful experience for everyone.

What is the Copenhagen Letter?

A group of 150 expert practitioners came together during Techfestival 2017 to discuss responsible technology development. They co-authored The Copenhagen Letter and sent it to everyone who shapes technology today.
